One of my favorite words is Serenity.
The word brings much imagery to my mind. I often think of Anne of Green Gables – the cinematography and brilliant views of Prince Edward Island. Or even, Somewhere in Time – and the vintage clothes and beautiful scenery of The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island…
Serenity is not always the best word to describe motherhood, is it? But it can still be something we find if we look hard enough.
It is not simply the content of the movies. It is the attitude, the ambiance. The times were slower, less scheduled. Fewer people crammed so many things into a few short hours.
Serenity is defined as:
the state or quality of being serene, calm, or tranquil; sereneness.
I like that. When I sip my afternoon tea, it often brings me serenity. Hot tea is not something that can be gulped or hurried. I must slow down and enjoy the brewing, the sipping and the savoring.
Praying you find a few quiet moments and a Cup of Serenity today…
My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him. ~ Psalm 62:5 (Amp)
