Tea for Tuesday: For the Love of Tea

Ahhhhh – a great cup of tea is so satisfying.

Last week, I was reveling in the joys of my newly discovered favorite tea: PG Tips.  It is an English tea – just a plain ol’ black tea that I’ve been told (by my knowledgeable friend, Cindy) is THE tea of the U.K…

Ahem – well, my love for coffee can only seriously be somewhat matched for my love of tea.

PG Tips is the kind of tea that can be enjoyed hot or iced – in my opinion – and I’m a BIG fan of iced tea!

On Monday, my hubby & I visited a pub for our anniversary lunch and I enjoyed some of the best Iced Tea (along with the best bacon cheeseburger and a bit of my hubbys fish sandwich – SCRUMPTIOUS!) I’ve had in quite awhile.  I think I probably drank at least 4 glasses of the stuff – and ohhhhh it was good.  Dont know if it was PG Tips, but it’s inspiring me to make some fresh iced tea.  I grew up drinking the stuff and can’t imagine NOT liking it.

My tea has to be sweet.  NOT Southern sweet.

Or else I’ll be in a sugar coma.

But sweetened nonetheless – preferably by splenda or stevia – and a sprig of fresh mint is great, too.

I dont turn my nose up at instant tea – like many tea snobs.  It also holds some sentiment for me.  One of my dearest friends from childhood, Dawn, would visit her grandmother during the summer in the town where we lived.  Her grandmother had a swimming pool – and Dawn’s family would invite my family to spend hot summer days cooling off in the back yard pool.  With endless glasses of iced, albeit instant, tea.  ANY time I drink instant tea, I’m taken back in a flash to my high school days – when swimsuits fit well and self-consciousness was as foreign to me as the jungles of motherhood.

Ahhhh…  Tea has a way of making my day – well, Better!  It is interwoven throughout my life amongst remarkable moments and momentous relationships.  Drinking it I feel like – as my very wise 4-year old daughter would say, “This is the life.”

Do you have a favorite tea?  Do you have any sentiment or emotion about drinking tea?
