I hear “cyber” and automatically think of the evil robot from “Terminator”…

Today is “Cyber Monday” – where you’re supposed to find After-Thanksgiving super deals online.  I’ve got several emails in my inbox already with coupons and specials from Amazon.com, Vera Bradley.com, and more.

The truth is – I like sales.

Last night my hubby ordered the Keurig Platinum Brewer – the coffee maker I’ve been dreaming about for a year now.  It’s coming with 48 k-cups ready for our drinking pleasure – and the price was lower than just the Platinum Brewer itself in stores.  It’s my Anniversary / Christmas present!

That’s exciting for me.

But we don’t shop “big” like that very often.   We love good deals – saving money – and splurging on big stuff when it make sense.

We did our shopping on Friday for our girls and got some real bargains – and it was nice because we got so many deals and still got them several things they want and many things they need.

It feels good to save money when you’re shopping – be it coupons for groceries, or half price deals on gifts – but it can be way easy to spend more than you bargained for…

Make a list. So helpful (and simple) in keeping you on track for your shopping needs.

Set a budget. Plan what to spend for each person you’re buying for and stay with it.

Be flexible. Maybe you saved 50% on your gift for your mom, so you can afford to spend a little extra on the gift for your husband that he wants.

Enjoy the moments. Don’t lose sight of the whipped cream smiles from the hot cocoa in the midst of trying to find that one special gift for so-and-so…  Enjoy the lights and feel your kids excitement with them.

See the lights. Spend at least one hour driving through a local lights display or through a neighborhood lit up for the season.  It can be so much fun to hear your kids’ perspective and remember what it was like for you as a kid!

Most of all, Remember the Reason for the Season!  All of the festivities and cookies and sales are nothing in comparison to the GIFT that was found lying in a manger…

As simple as it was, that first Christmas was the best deal of all!

Do you take advantage of Black Friday or Cyber Monday?  What are your best deals this year?  Are you a last minute shopper or do you shop all year round?
