Creating a Schedule

By Dianna | October 16, 2008

My husband and I have decided that we really need some kind of schedule to go by in our daily lives. We are so tired and we end up eating at weird times because we have never thought to put ourselves on a schedule. When we were both working we had schedules. We both worked and got home around 6pm in the evenings. Had dinner. Took care of our bills, emails and chores. Then spent the evenings together. Now that I have been home for almost 9 years and I am not working outside the home during the week we need a schedule to work on. He does work outside the home and is in college full time. But if we can get ourselves onto a schedule for his regular days it would be a huge help to us. We know that our weight gain and lack of energy has a lot to do with not having a schedule and the times we eat. So not only has this week been a week were we made some decisions regarding weight loss but its also the week we’ve decided to come up with a schedule to get our lives on track.

Here are some questions you can answer for me.

1. Do you have a schedule?

2. What do you use to keep you on that schedule?

3. How should I get started on creating a schedule?

Any tips, advice or comments are greatly wanted and appreciated. Let’s hear from you.

(hugs)

This is SO my family right now!!! I’ve only been home full-time since May 2008, so I’m still adjusting - but I feel absolutely SLUGGISH, and both my husband & I have put on a few extra pounds. ARGH! My husband changed jobs in June, and his schedule is finally settled down enough for us to have a regular routine with him.

I’ve been trying to slowly move myself & my 2 girls into a routine, but that has been difficult. I have a 3 yr old and a 15 month old. We have had some really good weeks and I feel very accomplished by the Friday, but the weekends always bring change, and it’s like taking 2 steps backward.

BUT rather than have a rigid hourly 8-5 type schedule, I’m trying to have “theme” days. Something along the line of: Mondays - Spontaneous Day; Tuesdays - Laundry & Cleaning; Wednesday - work my home business; etc… I want to have some craft times and some scheduled activities, but I’ve always been such a spontaneous person, it’s really difficult to work out on paper, let alone implement. But I’m doing it, anyway.

I’m working from a Day Planner for one thing - and I’m putting everything into it. All appts - personal, medical, business - contacts, notes, even devotional studies, etc., tracking everything in one place. I’m also starting a new thing - menus - but that is another work in progress. I’ve been praying about schedules for a few weeks, so this is what has come of that.
